Get ready to embark on a grand tour with me, Paul Kremer, as we explore the innovative world of Master Timber construction. This episode is a treasure trove of cutting-edge developments, from the heart of Canada's push for sustainable infrastructure with a groundbreaking fire station in Peterborough, Ontario, to the bustling urban landscape of Toronto where Leader Lane Developments is marrying modern living with environmental stewardship. We're not just talking about advancements; we're witnessing a transformation in the architectural fabric of our cities.

Hold onto your hard hats as we peel back the layers of the Alice Don and Dialogue Hybrid Floor System, an architectural marvel stretching the possibilities of non-residential construction. The University of Toronto becomes our classroom as we dissect the trials and triumphs of this long-span solution. Then it's off to Canberra, where the CIT project is not merely a building, but a bold statement in green innovation. And if that's not enough, brace yourselves for a pioneering twist on wind energy with Modvian's timber turbines, standing tall and proud in Sweden. Join me for an episode that's not just informative, but a celebration of timber technology's grand strides on the global stage.

Getting close to the Chinese Lunar New Year and also getting very, very close to the finalization of the last early bird tickets available for the International Master Timber Conference in Oregon in late March. So if you haven't got your tickets yet, please do head to the website, have a look, and hotels are booking out. The tours are all booked out and there is minimal space available. So if you are going to go, go quick, go hard or go home, let's have a look at what's making use around the world this week. In Master Timber Construction Land, and to Canada first up, a $9.4 million in federal funding will support the construction of a fire station in Peterborough in Ontario. This transformational project, which will replace the existing fire station too, will include renewable energy, master Timber Construction, water saving technologies to ensure sustainability and save the city around $24,000 Canadian annually as part of the operational cost minimizations. The announcement of the project will provide security to Peterborough for its citizens by supporting climate action, investing in renewable energy and biotechnology. However, it will also make sure that it has a focus on the community and the well-being based on response times for these services in the area and in Toronto now, and leader lane developments.

With its 40 years plus experience in and around the Toronto development industry, strives to an innovative and sustainable urban development development through the use of Master Timber Construction and the creation of more sustainable buildings. In the company's new niche that is creating, which is crafting a community centric space that resonates with the Greater Toronto Area multi-faceted urban landscape. In a recent interview, the company's history and its emerging role in shaping in the region is blended with its expertise in encompassing planning, project management and development to make sure that there's a commitment to environmental stewardship, which brings together architectural information and innovation into the forefront. And we've heard a lot about the Alice, don and Dialogue Hybrid Floor System that's been promoted through our show and through our social media for well over two years now and the new concept that is being put together and a prototype composite of post tensioned concrete topping on cross-limiter timber with rebar and engineered coating. With its innovation at its 40 foot long panels, the Master Timber based floor system is being used in non-residential long span constructions, situations such as offices, institutional buildings and other sectors that require very large spanning systems. Dialogue's an architectural firm, alice Don, hosted a project update at the University of Toronto in January this year, and it was supported by and collaborated with Woodworks. The event was built as the hybrid timber, low carbon, long span, and Craig Applegaff from Dialogue was able to articulate exactly what it was that they were trying to achieve with the prototypes, the setbacks and the successes.

Now and Australia's capital city is called Canberra and it has featured an amazing six star green building based out of the main city centre called the CIT. The CIT is a wooden high tech smart campus that aims to provide groundbreaking sustainability with timber materials and the building, leading to a 49% reduction in carbon emissions, and a second crane has just been assembled there and you can see the ramps going to the new campus site. There are some impressive photos if you'd like to go and have a look at the progress of this amazing project, the CIT building and all of its design drawings, plus some up to date manufacturing drawings supplied by local supplies here in Australia. It's a magnificent project. Please check out our social media feed if you'd like to see more information.

And following up on a story from well over a year ago where Modvian were looking to do timber turbines wind turbines for the Swedish market. Well, now we're pleased to say that the world's first full scale timber turbine has been produced and is sitting in Sweden at 105 metre tall tower located in a region. The first wood timber turbine now follows the smaller 30 metre demonstration project that are completed in 2020. And the rotary blades and generator hub are made of conventional materials. The tower is made of laminated veneer lumber which is glued together with strips and beams and load bearing building structure internally. If you'd like to see some images of this amazing snow capped forest where this 105 metre tall tower exists, you can head to our mass timber construction journal LinkedIn feed. So that's it, folks. That's all we've got time for this week in mass timber construction land.
