In this episode, a big residential development consisting of two towers is expected to sprout next spring in downtown San Jose next to the mixed-use transit village that Google has proposed. Roundtable discussion on fire safety and net zero. A proposed 40-storey hybrid wood tower in Vancouver, possibly the tallest in the world, still needs to clear neighbourhood planning approvals and complete design refinements, but the city is “quite enthusiastic about the project,” largely for its low-carbon and high-performance attributes. Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O) is shutting down Sidewalk Labs after the founder and chief executive of the unit developing smart-city technology disclosed that doctors say he may have the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease, a deadly neurodegenerative condition.
