Speaker 1:This time, an innovative USDA Forest Service support project shows promise in adding a little bit of timber to the Big Apple skyline in coming years. The New York City Mass Timber Studio received a $125,000 wood innovations grant for a project that accelerates construction of mass timber and engineered wood products that include CLT, glt and other things like dowel laminated. The Forest Service National Program lead for mass timber and project liaison said that this accelerator program is an initiative intended to speed up the adoption of the new technology, process or material in the metropolitan area. Mass timber is an engineered product, as we all know. It is the second accelerator that has been launched. The first one was in Boston and the NYC. Mass Timber Studio is the ninth technical assisted accelerator project for seven projects in the preliminary planning and design stage. Markets for the product are healthy. There's resilient forests that support it and several cities signed to reduce carbon footprint. This is a great initiative.
Speaker 1:If you want to read more, head to the USDA Forest Service, the US Department of Agriculture, or head to our LinkedIn feed. Unfortunately it's a subscription article, but there's a great article on the Fordenbridge delivery of the Groves Nursery, which has a great glulam structure. We don't have a lot known about the story because it is behind an embargo of subscription, but if you want to see an impressive arc-shaped nursery exposure of glulam timber with a great sort of translucent covering on the roof, head to our linkedin feed and heading to sweden now. And pieb has received a construction for this arctic center of energy contract for a project that will be recorded as the company's second headquarters. In 2024. The ace aims to be a leading competence center focused on advancing electrification for society located in the university's campus, referred to as campus ACE. Piab region manager said that this is a great contribution to sustainable construction, with the reuse of the work to start on the AAC campus very shortly. The project targets high energy efficiency, sustainability and reuse for materials and, of course, is being made using mass timber construction and is near the local hospital.

Speaker 1:And the down home delivery and catering in four corners has filed plans for replacing their building with a seven-story apartment building with 2 400 square feet of ground floor space and their restaurant to move back into once the development has been put forward. The Webster family's proposed 22-unit building will be a one-story taller than the typical Boston apartment buildings because of the rather typical construction of steel and concrete, with a podium topped off with five floors made out of wood beams, entire structure built out of cross-laminated timber, and the building will be one of five bedroom apartments 10 one-bedroom apartments with dens and seven two-bedroom apartments. Four apartments will be rented as affordable. The building will also have a roof deck for residents and will be on the number 23 bus route across Washington Street. So the filing of the letters to the particular council approvals have gone through. We look forward to bringing you more news as time progresses on this amazing project and you can see some great concept details and shots from our LinkedIn feed.
