And to Scotland now. And Built by Nature has awarded 219,000 euros as a grant to Glasgow-based Built Environment, smart Transformation, or BEST, to spearhead critical research into fire safety in mass timber buildings across the United Kingdom. The research grant is a direct response to the UK government's 2023 request in that timber in construction roadmap be identified and actions needed to improve an understanding in how timber can be used safely in construction be delivered. As part of the program, partners include the University of Edinburgh Fire Research Centre, adding to BEST's academic host, which is Edinburgh Napier University, and the Timber Development UK, confor and the Structural Timber Association, all working together to ensure the best outcome for BEST. If you'd like to read more about that, you can head to BEST's website or you could head to our LinkedIn feed, and the three founding partners of the Forest Business Network, the International Mass Timber Conference.

And Mexico has now got a foot in the door for mass timber construction with architecture studio PPAA has unveiled the first building in the country with the structure constructed mainly of mass timber, claiming it is a milestone for mexican architecture. Located in an industrial complex in mexico, the building has a structure made almost entirely of engineered wood products, and they told design that they chose mass timber for its sustainability, reduced labor costs, speed of construction and, noted, the mass timber is currently more expensive in mexico than other common materials. However, this will change with a greater adoption over time. So if you want to read more on this article about mass timber projects in Mexico, head to Dazeem's website or head to our LinkedIn feed. And that's it, folks. That's all we've got time for this week in mass timber construction land.
